French WW transitplate

About this product

For vehicles that do not have a valid registration or a valid Dutch roadworthiness certificate (APK), you can make use of the French WW plate, also known as the French transit plate. This temporary plate is valid for 4 months and is supplied with temporary third-party (WA) insurance valid for 14 days. If you wish to keep driving on the plate after those 14 days, you will need to arrange follow-up third-party insurance yourself through your own insurer. The plate is intended for vehicles that are being exported and driven by road to their destination country.

Please note: applications can only be submitted by businesses.

This plate is intended solely for a one-way trip from A to B, to or from France. Registration in another country is not possible with this plate; the original vehicle documents are required for that.

A valid roadworthiness certificate (APK/MOT/CT) is not required for issuing this plate. Responsibility for the safety and technical condition of the vehicle during the trip always lies with the buyer/driver.

Documents required for your application
Your application can only be processed once the documents below have been submitted. We only accept clear, legible PDF scans:

  • Copy of the sales invoice

  • Copy of the registration document (for used vehicles)

  • Certificate of Conformity (CoC) (for new vehicles)

  • Copy of the driver's ID

  • Driver's full name and address details

Please note: the plate is issued to the chassis number provided by the applicant. As a result, an order cannot be cancelled or returned once it has been submitted.

Order information

  • The French WW plate can only be requested for trucks, buses, and trailers of European origin.

  • The sales invoice must be addressed to a business; registration in the name of a private individual is not possible. An EORI number may additionally be requested.

  • The start date of the plate and its accompanying insurance (14 days) defaults to the date of the order, unless you indicate otherwise.

  • If you order before 12:00 (noon), your application will be processed the same working day.

    • The plates and insurance policy will be sent that same day to the address provided.

  • Vinacles cannot be held liable for delays or errors caused by courier services.

Regulations and use

  • Please note! The French WW plate does not qualify for an exemption from the Dutch heavy goods vehicle charge (vrachtwagenheffing). If you drive on this plate within the Netherlands, you will therefore need an OBU (On Board Unit).

  • For vehicles of Dutch origin, the Dutch export plate is a possible alternative.

  • The plate may only be used for trips to or from France, via a logical and reasonably shortest route.

  • This temporary plate is registered in EUCARIS. Its validity can also be checked via the French government's website: Demande de certificat de situation administrative.

  • Incorrect or unauthorized use may result in action by local authorities. Vinacles does not provide legal support in such situations.
