Are you exporting, importing or moving a vehicle across borders? In many cases, you will need a transit plate. A transit plate is a temporary registration plate that allows you to legally drive a vehicle, fully insured, without the vehicle holding a permanent registration. Typical situations include collecting a purchased car abroad, delivering an exported vehicle to a customer, or transferring a vehicle to an inspection.

Transit plates are issued including third-party liability insurance, so the vehicle can be driven insured for the duration of its validity. The validity period and country coverage differ per type of transit plate and per country of issue.

Which solution is possible depends on your specific situation: the vehicle, the country of origin, the destination and the route. We want to be honest with you: we do not have a suitable solution in every case. But we are always happy to think along with you and see what we can do.

Do you have a new vehicle with a COC? Or a vehicle with a foreign registration and a demonstrably valid German TÜV inspection? Then there are often good options available.
